Utility Truck Crash Kills One

One person has been killed after a two-vehicle accident that involved a utility truck.

According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened just before 11:00 a.m. in the 4500 block of US Highway 17 North near Ravenel. A Nissan extended cab pickup truck had been traveling northbound near Ravenel Auto Salvage and was rear-ended by a Berkeley County Electric utility truck.

Reports indicate that three people who were in the Nissan truck were taken Medical University of South Carolina Hospitals to be treated for their injuries. One of the three later died at the hospital.

The driver of the Berkeley Electric utility truck was also injured in the crash and transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The condition of others injured in the accident has not yet been released.

The identity of the victim in the crash and the cause of death have not yet been released by the Coroner’s office.
