Scooter Struck By Van In North Charleston

A man has been arrested for injuring a female pedestrian after striking her scooter with his van in North Charleston on Tuesday. According to law enforcement officials, police responded to the pedestrian accident that happened at the intersection of Remount Road and Saxon Street

North Charleston Police Department charged Juan Villaseca Mateos, 30, with driving under a suspended license, failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian and failure to surrender a suspended tag. A police report states the pedestrian was operating a scooter-type vehicle when she was crossing the road and was struck Mateos. The victim was transported to the hospital and was listed with non-life-threatening injuries.
