Charleston County Parks Foundation
The Charleston County Parks Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing resources that help Charleston County continue to enhance its parks, nature centers, and waterways. They provide financial assistance that enables the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission to develop projects and programs for the benefit of the whole community. Gary Christmas, founder of Christmas Injury Lawyers, has donated $10,000 to this year’s foundation funding. Gary recently joined the board of CCPF.
Through their fundraisers, donations, grant awards, and volunteer efforts, the Charleston County Parks Foundation works hard to ensure everyone in Charleston can enjoy the outdoors. They also coordinate events such as guided hikes and kayak trips through some of Charleston’s greatest natural spots. The Charleston County Parks Foundation looks to preserve the beauty of Charleston for many years in the future. Gary and his two sons will make great usage of the parks.
The Vision and Mission
The Charleston County Parks Foundation (CCPF) carries out its mission by advancing the interests of Charleston County’s parks, gardens, and historic sites. This is accomplished largely through advocacy, collaboration with local governments and organizations, education campaigns, and fundraising initiatives which benefit Charleston County citizens’ parks and recreation experiences.
The CCPF actively engages community members in their own neighborhoods who have a vested interest in their local public spaces – seeing to it that Charleston locals have the opportunity to take part in public projects like park upgrades or tree planting programs. Through these efforts the CCPF works to ensure equitable access to resources, helping create wonderful outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Healthy Living in the Lowcountry
Living in Charleston County makes achieving a healthy lifestyle infinitely easier because of the Charleston County Parks Foundation. Their mission is to promote healthier communities by providing access to parks, open spaces, and recreational activities for everyone. This means that with Charleston’s weather of around 70-80 degrees year round, outdoor activity is incredibly easy to maintain.
You can enjoy running or biking trails, sports courts and fields, and even kayaking or paddleboarding with the Charleston County Parks Foundation offering lessons at many of their locations. A healthy routine can be achieved without having to navigate cold winters or shovel snow out of the way!
CCPF is helping to make healthy lifestyles much more achievable in the lowcountry! The great weather that we are blessed with year-round (yes, even summer!) makes exercising outside a breeze, while the abundance of parks and trails provide an array of fun getaways and activities. Not to mention our waters provide plenty of options such as kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming and sailing to really spice up your fitness routine!
CCPF also provides countless opportunities for fitness outings such as festivals, physical activity events and courses at each location across Charleston county. All these features make Charleston the perfect place for cultivating a healthy lifestyle!
